Top 5: Shows I am Watching on Netflix Right Now (that isn’t Friends or the Office)

Do you ever find yourself re-watching the same series on Netflix for the 3rd time or deleting your account because you cannot find a show you like? Well, these are a few of my favourites that you might want to try!

Schitt’s Creek

My favourite TV show right now has to be Schitt’s Creek. I started watching this Canadian show after I kept hearing people talk and rave about how funny it was. I watched the first episode and wasn’t sure if I would be able to keep going, but by the 4th episode I was hooked and there was no going back! It is a show about a wealthy family that went bankrupt, and now they have to adjust to life without money. Definitely my #1 show on Netflix.

Lovesick

This British show is my go-to whenever I want something light-hearted and indie. It follows a group of friends and their many relationships. The main character starts contacting a long list of ex-girlfriends to tell them he has got a diagnosis that they may have to get tested for too. Each past girlfriend takes the episode back in time to the relationship. It is a feel-good show that really relates to real-life situations in relationships.

Las Chicas Del Cable (Cable Girls)

As you may have guessed from the title, this show is in Spanish! I started watching this series while I was living in Spain, so I used it to help me learn Spanish, and now it has a special place in my heart. It is set in the 1920’s, and a group of women become friends when they start working at a telephone company. These strong women help the progress for women gaining equality with men. Heartbreak, new loves, scandals, and mystery follow these women. Definitely a must-see!

A-typical

This show follows the life of a boy on the autism spectrum and the family dynamic that pursues. The boy, Sam, makes his way through high school and searches for independence. The family has to adjust to change and explore what it means to be “normal”. This show is hilarious and helps demonstrate some of the trials and triumphs that happen in life.

Mindhunter

This show is definitely not very humorous, but it is so well done and always leaves me wanting more episodes. The show is set place in the 70s when the FBI was only starting to understand that there are serial killers who kill for pleasure. The show reincarnates some real-life serial killers such as Ed Kemper, the Son of Sam, and Charles Manson.
