TRU Networking 411: What Students Need to Kickstart Their Career

University is a time when students get to explore their talents and find their passion. Amidst finding themselves, students quickly learn that they are building the foundation for the rest of their life and professional career. The School of Business and Economics at Thompson Rivers University recognizes the potential of networking in the business world, organizing Business Kickstart events to help launch young business professionals into the workforce. Students and staff were invited to mingle with top-ranked employers and speakers to be inspired and seek mentorship. SoBE provides outreach opportunities that can lead into professional relationships to help guide and support students in their final years at TRU, and even post-grad!

The Panorama Room hosted the HR Professional Night on October 8, 2014. Attended by University professionals, co-op coordinators, and guests from various companies – this event was the perfect place to ask questions and meet and greet our community leaders. Whether you are working towards your HR Major, or you want to learn more about recruitment and selection in today’s digital world age, this was the place to be! Guest speakers included professionals from NRI Distribution, British Columbia Lottery Corporation, City of Kamloops, KGHM Ajax Mine, and even our very own TRU HR department.
